Welcome to Dos Alas CubaRican Café & Lounge, a culinary oasis nestled in the heart of Mammoth Lakes, California. This vibrant eatery celebrates the rich flavors of Cuban and Puerto Rican cuisine, delivering an inviting atmosphere where every dish tells a story. Located at 101 Sherwin Creek Rd, just a stone's throw away from breathtaking mountain views, Dos Alas is more than just a restaurant—it's a cultural experience.
As I step inside, I'm instantly captivated by the lively decor, which reflects the heart and soul of Caribbean culture. The warm, friendly service is unparalleled; the staff makes every guest feel like family, embodying the spirit of hospitality that accompanies each meal. My dinner companions and I quickly settle in, eager to embark on a flavor journey.
The menu is a delicious blend of traditional and modern interpretations of iconic dishes. I opt for the Cuban Sandwich, a classic made with homemade baked ham, garlic roasted pork, Swiss cheese, mustard, and pickles, all panini-pressed to perfection. The first bite transports me to the streets of Havana—crunchy on the outside, a burst of savory on the inside, this sandwich is a must-try.
Alongside my sandwich, I indulge in a side of Yuca Al Mojo, cassava root drizzled with garlic sauce that elevates the dish with its fragrant boldness. The SWEET Plantains are a heavenly accompaniment, their caramelized exterior giving way to a soft, warm interior that dances harmoniously with my meal.
The depth of flavor doesn't stop there; the Picadillo is another standout—ground beef sautéed with tomatoes, bell peppers, and olives served alongside rich, flavorful red beans. As one customer aptly described, "the red beans were very flavorful and rounded out the meal well." Indeed, these sides enhance the already vibrant experience, illustrating the thoughtfulness behind each dish.
For those seeking something savory yet refreshing, I highly recommend the Escabeches. The Camarones En Escabeche showcases shrimp marinated in a pickled concoction that dances on the palate, while the Pollo En Escabeche provides a delightful contrast with its savory depth.
As the night unfolds further, live music fills the air, creating a joyous ambiance that complements the culinary delights on offer. Guests engage in lively conversations, and it's clear this café has become a cherished community hub. Christi, our wonderful host, adds a personal touch by sharing recipes with patrons, making the experience all the more memorable.
As I savor the last bites of my meal accompanied by a glass of refreshing Sangria, I can't help but agree with fellow diners—Dos Alas CubaRican Café & Lounge is a hidden gem that transcends expectations. If you're ever in Mammoth Lakes, this culinary paradise is surely not to be missed. Pair your visit with an open heart and an appetite, because a delightful journey of flavors awaits you.

WOW!!!!! A hidden gem. Can't say enough great things about the service and food. Give it a try if you're nearby.

Second time there. Ordered different dinners. Same mood in the place. Casual, friendly, and everyone checking out what the neighboring table ordered. It's a cool place to be. Possibly even better than the first time. Cristi is a wonderful host. Even gave me a rough recipe for her Puerto Rican Red Beans. Honestly, I could eat the beans with rice for my dinner.

It was amazing. Food was great. El pulpo al escabeche was unbelievable. The lechón was fantastic.

Best food in Mammoth! First of all, super fun decor and our waitress (Christi) was very good. We came on a Wednesday night and there was live music. Make sure to get a reservation as this place gets packed. Unless you want to sit outside but it gets cold. The views are amazing though. Started out with Sangria and it was delicious. We got the sweet and fried plantains, both were excellent! We got the picadillo and Cubano sandwich for entrees. Picadillo was 4/5 and Cubano was 5/5. The red beans that came with the Picadillo was very flavorful and rounded out the meal well. For desert, we got the coconut bread budding and it was good. Overall, delicious food with a nice atmosphere. Food took some time but we weren't in a rush and you shouldn't be either when you come here. I would highly recommend.

This is a hidden gem in Mammoth. The Cuban Sandwich and Picadillo were delicious. They hit the spot, especially at 8:50pm, after a nature-ful day. The food is reasonably priced, the staff are friendly, there's good music, 5/5 recommended. Definitely check this place out if you're looking for good food in Mammoth

My wife and I spent our 25 year anniversary riding motorcycles around Mammoth then finished the day with a splendid meal in a fantastic place with the best people

We went on a Friday evening right at 5pm when they opened. Party of 8. We took our chances since we were not able to make reservations. We got luck, because I saw they were turning away a party of 2 right before we walked in. I let them know it was our 1st time and to see if they can possibly seat us. They were booked inside but they let us sit outside on the dirt/grass area. It was a bit sunny with no shade but there was a cool breeze an and really we just wanted to taste their food. Service was great. I wish they had covers out there it would have made the experience 10 times better but you can't complain because the backdrop was breathtaking. Mountain View's of mammoth. The kids ran around while they waited for their food. Everything was amazing!! I think we ordered everything on the menu and shared! Our waitress was so amazing - she was a mix of Asian... I can't renew r her name . She was so helpful and awesome. She made our table outside more comfortable. The highlight of the evening their pique vinegar sauce! Omg - I wanted to take the bottle home! Put it on everything! So good! Anyways, go try it - best food in Mammoth by far! We go every year - I can't believe this wasn't even on my radar. See you soon for sure!!!!

I would make love to the manchego & guava sandwich. Like legit dick it down because it was so freakin delicious. I'm going to bring my wife here just for this sandwich. 17/10! Beef stew was good, we got something with skewers it was a little dry but still tasty. Great beans! Oh ya! Must have their hot vinegar sauce on almost everything! The service was so nice and hospitable! Every one was just so nice! We didn't have reservations so we had to sit in their back yard. But that was actually not a big deal because we were able to catch the sunset! And they had market lights strung up so it was super cute!

Can't believe this place has been her for 5 years and this is the first time we've come. A quaint and cozy Cuban/Puerto Rican/Spanish restaurant full of flavor in the back woods of Mammoth Lakes. Take a drive and get out of your comfort zone by trying this soulful small business filled with creative decor and great service. The food was great and decently priced. We tried the shrimp and octopus ceviche-like appetizer. Small order feeds two. We ordered the Cubano sandwich and honestly it's better than some others I've had in SoCal and even Miami! No lie. The second dish was the Garlic Roast Pork. I think it was slow cooked or slow roasted, cut into two thick slices and finished off on the grill. Topped with a green garlic sauce with a side of rice and black beans (red or black options) this dish was savory, rich and flavorful. Ask for the vinaigrette hot sauce which helps cut the richness of the port. The Michelada was from a can. We were hoping for fresh made but it's ok. 1 deduction for that. Come try it and support this friendly hard working crew. I'll be back next time I'm in town. A gem in the mountains.

This place is such a hidden gem in Mammoth! Getting there is a little treacherous especially if it's snowing hard. It's a 5 minute walk away from the parking lot and the road can get really slippery/icy. It's also quite hard to see in the dark. We ordered the plantain, garlic bread, octopus and shrimp appetizer; everything was delicious. Service was also amazing, our server gave us so many recommendations. My favorite was the garlic bread - it was so well done and the condiments that came with paired amazing. The whole restaurant has a really warm, cozy and bustling atmosphere. I will definitely be returning the next time I'm in town.
